CHIAPAS RESERVE

rating

Medium-Dark Roast

Our Chiapas Reserve is a single origin, medium-dark roast coffee with sweet, woody notes of hazelnut and slight hints of chocolate.

On the Guatemalan border, in the Sierra Madre Mountain range lies the state of Chiapas. Coffee farmers there grow what is known as Café de Altura (Altitude Coffee). The 100% Arabica coffee grown there is harvested at a height of up to 1,800 meters above sea level (slightly higher than the elevation of Denver, Colorado). Proximity to the equator and rich volcanic soils produce beans that are less bitter, with a hint of sweetness.

RECIPES

Mocha Latte

Not only is Chiapas known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant cultures, but it also produces 30% of Mexico's cacao. Our Chiapas Reserve, a medium-dark roast, features rich, sweet, and woody notes of hazelnut. These nuanced flavors beautifully complement the deep chocolate taste of a mocha latte, creating a perfect balance of coffee and chocolate.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup of freshly brewed Café Mexicano Chiapas Reserve
  • 6 ounces whole milk, or milk of choice
  • 2 Tablespoons chocolate syrup, unsweetened chocolate or Chiapas chocolate

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a saucepan or microwave, combine the milk and chocolate. Heat until the mixture is hot but not boiling, stirring continuously
  2. Froth the mixture using your preferred method
  3. If desired, drizzle chocolate syrup in your mug. Add the coffee, then pour the frothed milk over it, scooping out any remaining foam from the jar
  4. Top with whipped cream and additional chocolate, if desired
