Dark Roast

Our Oaxaca Reserve coffee is a single origin dark roast. You’ll enjoy a dark chocolate, sweet, bold-butter body thanks to a higher bean density than other coffees.

Between Veracruz and Chiapas on the Pacific Coast and on Sierra Madre del Sur lies the state of Oaxaca. Coffee farmers there grow 100% Arabica coffee beans at an altitude between 1225 and 2,000 meters above sea level.

RECIPES

Cafe de Olla

Café de Olla is a traditional Mexican coffee enjoyed by millions day and night. When brewed in a traditional clay pot, or "olla de barro," it gains a unique earthy flavor. Sweetened with piloncillo or dark brown sugar and infused with cinnamon, it offers a distinctive and rich taste. Our Oaxaca Reserve, a dark roast with sweet, dark chocolate notes, perfectly complements the bold flavors of Café de Olla.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups of water
  • 3 ounces Piloncillo or 1/3 cup of dark brown sugar, to taste
  • ½ a stick of Mexican Cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons of Café Mexicano Oaxaca Reserve Dark Roast

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Bring water to a boil. You can use a stainless-steel saucepan as an alternative to the traditional clay pot.
  2. Lower the heat to low and add coffee, piloncillo (or dark brown sugar) and cinnamon
  3. Simmer for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally
  4. Turn off heat and let it sit covered for 5 more minutes
